Non-Discrimination Statement
The Fenton Charter Public Schools prohibits discrimination, harassment, intimidation, and bullying based on actual or perceived ancestry, age, color, disability, gender, gender identity, gender expression, nationality, race or ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or association with a person or a group with one or more of these actual or perceived characteristics, discrimination, harassment, intimidation, and bullying based upon pregnancy, childbirth or related medical conditions, race, religion, creed, color, gender, national origin or ancestry, physical or mental disability, medical condition, marital status, or age, against its employees and applicants for employment on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, disability, sex, gender identity, religion, reprisal, and where applicable, political beliefs, marital status, familial or parental status, sexual orientation, or all or part of an individual’s income is derived from any public assistance program, or protected genetic information in employment or in any program or activity conducted or funded by the organization. (Not all prohibited bases will apply to all programs and/or employment activities.)

Policy Against Unlawful Harassment
Fenton Charter Public Schools (“Charter School”) is committed to providing a work and educational atmosphere that is free of unlawful harassment. The Charter School’s policy prohibits discrimination, harassment, intimidation, and bullying based on actual or perceived ancestry, age, color, disability, gender, gender identity, gender expression, nationality, race or ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or association with a person or a group with one or more of these actual or perceived characteristics, sexual harassment and harassment based upon pregnancy, childbirth or related medical conditions, race, religion, creed, color, gender, national origin or ancestry, physical or mental disability, medical condition, marital status, age, at school or at school-sponsored or school-related activities, or any other basis protected by federal, state, local law, ordinance or regulation. The Charter School will not condone or tolerate harassment of any type by any employee, independent contractor or other person with which the Charter School does business. This policy applies to all employee actions and relationships, regardless of position or gender. The Charter School will promptly and thoroughly investigate any complaint of harassment and take appropriate corrective action, if warranted.
This applies to all acts related to school activity or school attendance within a school under the jurisdiction of the Executive Director of the Charter School. FCPS requires that school personnel take immediate steps to intervene when safe to do so when he or she witnesses an act of discrimination, harassment, intimidation, or bullying. FCPS also prohibits retaliatory behavior or action against any person who files a complaint, testifies, or otherwise participates in district complaint processes.
Fenton Charter Public Schools (“FCPS”) values your input and takes complaints from employees, parents and guardians, and all other members of the community very seriously. If you have a complaint or concern, please read this page to find the complaint policy that best fits your situation. We have provided easy-to-follow instructions and forms for submitting a complaint under each policy.
1. Complaints of Sexual and/or Unlawful Harassment

If you are an employee of FCPS and have a complaint about unlawful harassment, please see the Policy Against Unlawful Harassment and use the “Harassment Complaint Form” to submit a complaint.
2. Complaints against an Employee by another Employee
If you are an employee with a complaint about a coworker related to an incident or conduct other than unlawful harassment, please see the Policy for Complaints Against Personnel by Employees and use the “Complaint Form” to submit a complaint.
3. Complaints against an Employee by a Non-Employee
If you are not an employee of FCPS (e.g., you are parent or community member) and you have a complaint or concern about an employee of FCPS, please see the Policy for Complaints Against Personnel by Non-Employees and use the “Complaint Form” to submit a complaint.
4. Complaints of Discrimination and/or Other Violations of State or Federal Law
(Uniform Complaint Procedure)
FCPS’s policy is to comply with applicable federal and state laws and regulations and avoid discrimination in all of its programs. This complaint procedure is adopted to address the following types of complaints:
(1)Complaints of unlawful discrimination, harassment, intimidation or bullying against any protected group (e.g., gender, ethnicity, race, religion, disability, etc.) based on actual or perceived ancestry, age, color, disability, gender, gender identity, gender expression, nationality, race or ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or association with a person or a group with one or more of these actual or perceived characteristics;
(2)Complaints of violations of state or federal law and regulations governing programs including, but not limited to: Adult Education Programs, Consolidated Categorical Aid Programs, Migrant Education, Career Technical and Technical Education and Career Technical and Technical Training Programs, Child Care and Development Programs, Child Nutrition Programs, Special Education Programs, and Safety Planning Requirements;
(3)Complaints that a pupil was required to pay a pupil fee for participation in an educational activity; and/or
(4)Complaints of noncompliance with the requirements governing the Local Control Funding Formula or Sections 47606.5 and 47607.3 of the Education Code, as applicable.

5. General Complaints
If you have a complaint that does not fit any of the above categories, please use the “General Complaint Form” and submit your complaint to the Executive Director.
